I probably havent thought this out too much, but it's worth a note here as it's being played out and talked about everywhere, why not from me.
I am angry the most at the American public though, because we say one thing and do another; we claim to stand up for family values and abhor folks who not only trounce on them but also say one thing and do another, and yet come November 7th we will re-elect those same folks who have trounced on our moral ground and have shown disrespect to the ethical make-up of this country.
I am speaking of members of the US Congress, doesnt matter if you are Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal/Progressive; the mess in the US Congress was caused by us, because we elected people who at face value may be right, but at an action level they are evil.
I know evil is such a strong word, but what would you call people you tell you to your face, on TV/Radio, on the web that they stand for high moral foundations and yet when they go to work power and greed are ALL that motivates them. They dont do things because they are right, but because of what THEY get out of it personally (and maybe some of their immediate constituents).
Yes, you hear me right, our elected representative system is corrupt to the teeth.
A young man or woman could choose to run for office, have a bright future and be of utmost moral character and integrity, but in order to get things done in Congress, they have to play by the rules...which means you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. Sure, there are many men and women in Congress who get things done and lead moral and upstanding lives, but the mechnisms in place are evil, because it's about money and power, and the worship of money is the root of all evil.
The recent scandalous activities all the more prove this because instead of coming forward and admitting that things were awry years ago, folks are stating they dont remember or have no recollection or there's plausible deniability (a nice GOVT phrase for a cover-up), and why would they do that instead of telling the truth? Because they stand to loose power and money if they tell the truth, resign or step back. Funny those are the RIGHT things to do, and yet again we placed these folks in office. How silly are we?
I have no solution, maybe another revoultion? Or maybe we take a stand as voters and Americans to ONLY place folks who are truly accountable, and add a rule to the Constitution that says if you mess up we can yank you out of there.
Or maybe the real answer is I cant wait until Jesus returns and the stuff on earth is temporal and Christ is eternal. I need better thought management and I need to keep my mind's eye (as dc Talk sang about) on those things that save, not destroy. Evil destroys, but God saves.
