Change

I've decided to make a change in my blog, and discuss things that I like. So, this will be a journey regarding the high life for me or things I've tried or seen or like. It could be cigars or cars or guns or gadgets or golf courses or golf clubs or culinary knowledge, etc.
I will occasionally make comments about current events or things that need to be said, but I will mainly stick with my fun stuff.

Struck by Accountability...

We have stuff going on at work that irks me, stuff that is unethical and immoral, and it's about telling the truth and owning up to what you have done. Webster's calls that accountability, and Christians as well as those who profess to be ethical and moral people are supposed to be reproachable, not above reproach as we so often hear in the media.
If people are unwilling to be accountable, then I say you should move to an island in the Pacific and enjoy the castaway mentality, because if you are unwilling to be held for your actions, what good are you?
I am so tired of it here, and in the news of how people cannot tell the truth because it will incriminate them. You are either right or wrong, that's it!
Here its about too many bosses and not enough workers, its about too much money being spent on poorly managed ideas and too many bosses, and they wonder why we are in the red. Common sense explains that one, unfortunately in today's world, common sense is neither taught or expected, just the ability to kiss a$$! But what if doing so risks accountability and doing right? Folks just keeping on doing it because it is expected, and when it hits the fan, the boss will claim plausible deny ability and the worker is out of a job. Here that boss would get demoted or reassigned, but the worker would be looking for a new job.
It really stinks!

The Importance of Ordinary Rainbows

I've been reading God Is Closer Than You Think by John Ortberg, our small group is studying it, and tonight I lead our discussion. The 2nd chapter discusses in a nutshell something I read in a Max Lucado book, that God came near or to us, to be seen. Like the great story of the road to Emmaus, Jesus was right there, and the apostles had no idea, they couldn't see through everything they threw up to block seeing God.
The importance of rainbows, is that they are a magnificent sight to see. Here lately in DFW we've seen several with all the rain and such, but seeing one is seeing something miraculous, like seeing God; except the chapter goes on to say that we should see God in the ordinary too. Jesus walking down that road was ordinary, the apostles though were looking for something miraculous.
In our day-to-day lives, God is everywhere in the mundane to the miraculous, but more times than naught, he is there in those ordinary moments if we adjust our eyes to see Him!
It's about seeing Him, and faith is what? Seeing the unseen, in the ordinary.

The Way of Coke

Have you seen this new interest in carbonated beverages with vitamins and minerals added, especially recently to Coke and Pepsi?
Last night we picked up a Pepsi Max, which for an 8 oz plastic bottle was rather expensive at $1.99. I am NOT a Pepsi fan so I didn't like it much, but it was intriguing, not the taste but the advertisements and push to enjoy your beverage and get some sort of health benefit too.
This idea is not old, but very peculiar. I guess as they say, folks want the best of both worlds.

I prefer good food that has taste as its centerpiece, and that can come from a fresh peach to a big carrot, to a beef filet to a slice of buttermilk pie. Mmmmm!

It's been too long...

I haven't touched or looked at my blog or anyone else's in like 6 months; a big part of that was due to the increased workload for me at UTD, and some personal issues that I have been dealing with. All in all to say, I missed reading others' rantings' and posting my own, so I now plan to seek a more active role here and I will encourage my wife to do the same.
Toni is just amazing, and has sense of humor unparalleled..I look forward to her sharing it with you too, whether at this site or her own!
